I swear he's smiling at me. He's waving his fins in what I interpret as joy. A girl and her fish.... it's a beautiful thing.

It's not me who's frisky today, it's the new man in my life. He's beautiful, how could he be otherwise? That's right, I bought a fish today. A Betta splendora, a siamese fighting fish with gorgeous red and orange scales. He looks like he's on fire, so we named him Sparky. I am sure he's never seen Siam, or really anywhere accept tank he was born and the cart in the middle of the Natick Mall. I rescued him you see, from the lucky bamboo cart and took him home. Andrea and I walked by the cart and the poor things slowly followed our progress. But Sparky, he swam right up to the side of his bowl and unfurled his handsome fins and made tiny bubbles at me. (He's a very expressive and creative fish) He survived admirably the purchasing process and ride home in Andrea's car. The only problem was the shuttle ride, which jarred his delicate poissonite senses. In the next day or two I'll change his water, but I'm letting him settle in right now, he's had a very exciting day. One of many he'll spend in room 22 with Heather and I.
